Behind Zilerium Photography: Rachel Zilberg

Welcome to the world through my eye. I began self-teaching portraiture and composition on a point-and-shoot Sony my cousin gifted me when I was ten. I purchased my first DSLR in high school, and have been finessing my photographic voice ever since. I believe I am never done learning how to capture a striking image.

I design evocative and narratively-focused images in any free time I have. I adore not only bringing my own visions to life, but collaborating with others in order to tell their stories. My experiences writing fiction, directing theatre, and drawing all influence my eye behind the lens. I am especially inspired by bodies - not only their expressive shapes, but the way people move in their own languages. I love helping people grow comfortable and brave with their movements in front of the camera. When I am not taking photographs, I can be found writing (games, stories, plays, articles, etc.), paging through my Ellen von Unwerth book for the thousandth time, or examining minute differences between five similar shades of blood red lipstick.
